Explore the New GV80, Genesis' New Flagship SUV

Genesis is quickly becoming known for luxury vehicles that can take on the European and Japanese brands. Our team here at Genesis of Clearwater would like for you to know all about the latest Genesis GV80. Genesis' premium SUV is more than a match for other luxury SUVs like the Mercedes-Benz GLE-class and the BMW X5.

The GV80 is the first Genesis SUV to make an entrance into the mid-size luxury crossover segment in Tampa. It has a turbocharged four-cylinder engine standard with a powerful V6 available. It features rear-wheel-drive as standard with available all-wheel-drive. The ride has the serenity of a luxury vehicle but nimble handling and muscle.

Features & Trim Levels

The Genesis GV80 is an SUV with three rows, upscale interior ambiance, impressive performance, and loads of standard high-tech features.

The exterior sports a crest-shape grille that announces its presence. Genesis' Quad-Lamp headlights match the front fender air vents. The overall feel is aggressive and powerful. It's available with both 19- and 23-inch wheels.

The GV80 may be a beast on the outside, but what about on the inside? The interior is elegant and comfortable. Crafted around the concept of "white space," the intentionally blank part of a drawing or page, there is no clutter or anything unnecessary.

The seats are quilted and are available as ventilated and heated in the first two rows. There's an active motion driver's seat that deflates and inflates individual air pockets within the seat. The intention is to reduce driver fatigue and increase comfort. There's also a two-spoke steering wheel.

The dashboard features a minimalist design, and there's a 14.5-inch touch screen located at the center of it at the top. As an alternate method of controlling the touch screen, there's a touchpad that recognizes the driver's handwriting.

There are still buttons and knobs for frequent tasks for convenience. There's a vent grate spanning a good portion of the dash, and for you there's accent lighting available.

There are six trim levels though the base model is pretty fancy and well-equipped in its own right. There's a base model with the 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a standard model with the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6. Each of these base models has Advanced and Prestige trim levels.

The top-level Prestige trim gives you 22-inch wheels, Nappa leather upholstery, and a generous digital gauge cluster. Either of the Prestige models offers great value when compared to its competitors.

The Genesis GV80 will offer a suite of driver-assist features standard. The GV80 will have standard adaptive cruise control along with a semi-autonomous driving mode. The mode studies how the owner drives so it can mimic their style while the SUV is in use on the roads in Saint Petersburg.  Also standard are forward-collision warning and auto emergency braking that detects vehicles and pedestrians approaching at the side. It also has blind-spot alerts and rear cross-traffic alerts with emergency braking. There's a camera with sensors to monitor the attention level of the driver.

An updated version of the Hyundai Highway Driving Assist feature is included to follow lane markings as well as control acceleration, braking, and steering. It can also help execute safe lane changes, adjust the space between the SUV and other vehicles in front of it automatically, and adjust the vehicle speed to match the speed limit.

The GV80 shares its underpinnings with the next-generation G80 sedan and is rear-wheel-drive standard with all-wheel-drive available. The standard engine is a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with a lot of spirit. There's an available twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 with the rumored possibility of a hybrid model. Both engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
